The MX240 3D Universal Edge Router is an Ethernet-optimized edge router that provides both switching and carrier-class Ethernet routing. The MX240 enables a wide range of business and residential applications and services, including high-speed transport and VPN services, next-generation broadband multiplay services, high-speed Internet and data center internetworking.

The SDN-ready MX480 3D Universal Edge Router delivers high performance, reliability, and scalability for service provider and cloud applications, enabling the delivery of advanced business and residential applications and services. At just eight rack units (8 U), the MX480 offers 5.76 Tbps of system capacity in support of high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces, and SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity.

The SDN-ready MX960 3D Universal Edge Router brings high performance, reliability, and scale to the broadest range of service provider and enterprise applications. It offers 10.56 Tbps of system capacity in one-third of a standard telco rack, with support for high-density 10GbE, 40GbE, and 100GbE interfaces, as well as legacy SONET/SDH, ATM, and PDH connectivity.

Juniper Networks MX Series 3D Universal Edge Routers support several types of line cards, including Dense Port Concentrators (DPCs), Flexible Port Concentrators (FPCs) with associated Physical Interface Cards (PICs), Modular Port Concentrators (MPCs) with associated Modular Interface Cards (MICs), or MICs. FPCs are populated with PICs for various interface types.

It is equipped with Modular Interface Card (MIC) slots that permit flexible network connectivity, and a MS-MIC slot that optionally provides dedicated service support.

The MX2020 ensures the highest levels of network availability with a comprehensive set of resiliency features that include N+1 fabric redundancy, control plane redundancy, N+N power feed redundancy, and even N+1 power supply module redundancy. In addition, Virtual Chassis technology supports chassis-level redundancy while allowing users to manage two routers as a single element.

The Juniper Networks M Series Multiservice Edge Routers span from over 10 Gbps up to 320 Gbps of throughput and include the Juniper Networks M7i, M10i, M120, and M320 Multiservice Edge Routers. The Juniper Networks JCS1200 Control System is a high-density, high-performance rack-mounted control and Routing Engine platform. The JCS1200 platform provides 12 bays for Routing Engines and other JCS1200 platform components, integrating common resources that are shared by the Routing Engines. The use of common resources provides a small server-system footprint that contains high-performing servers with minimal cabling.

The T1600 Core Router is a complete routing system that provides Gigabit Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and other high-speed interfaces for large networks and network applications, such as those supported by Internet service providers (ISPs). The T1600 router accommodates up to eight Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs), each of which can be configured with a variety of network media types. The router provides up to 800 gigabits per second (Gbps), full duplex (1600 Gbps of any-to-any, nonblocking, half-duplex) switching.

The Juniper Networks T4000 Core Router is a complete routing system that provides Gigabit Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and other high-speed interfaces for large networks and network applications, such as those supported by Internet service providers (ISPs). The T4000 router accommodates up to eight Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs), each of which can be configured with a variety of network media types. The router provides up to 2.0 terabits per second (Tbps), full duplex (4.0 Tbps of any-to-any, nonblocking, half-duplex) switching.

The Juniper Networks TX Matrix router is the centralized switch fabric of the routing matrix, which is a terabit routing system interconnecting up to four T640 Core Routers to deliver up to 2.56 terabits per second (Tbps) of subscriber switching capacity. The routing matrix multichassis architecture provides scalable growth for aggregation and core services for voice, video, and data networks. It provides a flexible and cost-effective means to simplify large point-of-presence (POP) and central office environments. The routing matrix delivers high-availability services from tunnel services, ATM, DS3, OC3/STM1, OC12/STM4, Gigabit Ethernet, 10-Gigabit Ethernet, OC48/STM16, OC192/STM64, and other high-speed interfaces.

The routing matrix is a multiterabit routing system for interconnecting routers. The TX Matrix Plus router is the centralized switch-fabric chassis of the routing matrix, and connects to multiple line-card chassis (LCC).
